Snohomish County Awards Innovation Assistance Grants to 50 Local Small Businesses

"Our small, locally owned businesses are the backbone of our communities....

These assistance programs will help ensure our small business continue to thrive and keep our communities strong."

So says a county official in Washington state's Snohomish County, where 50 small businesses have been awarded $350,000 in grants to help them recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, the Seattle Times reports.

The grantsan average of $7,300 per businesswere awarded as part of the county's American Rescue Plan Act allocation, in partnership with the Snohomish County Council.

Rep.

Kim Schrier, who represents the county, says the grants "will boost economic growth and innovation across our county and help business owners build long-term resiliency."

Over the course of the pandemic, Snohomish County lost an estimated 25% of its child care workforce and an estimated 19% of its manufacturing jobs, per a press release.

The average grant amount awarded was $7,300 per business.
